Diabetes Conference Malaysia

With the growing diabetes problem in Malaysia, doctors from all over the world visit Malaysia at the end of the week. There is a big diabetes conference which is held in Kuala Lumpur. The city is known for rising diabetic problems. Mostly, because of the sweet food that Malaysians eat. Besides that, also western influences are a key part to the high number. Fast food chains rapidly appear and create problems. Especially Malaysians are a risk group, since they have the largest number of diabetics.

To make it easier for patients, they created a diabetes webshop. It is easy to order and the Malaysians receive their products at home. Herewith they want to stimulate people with diabetes to order their products (on time).

Diabetes In The Last Decade

The number of diabetics really changed in the last decade. It grew from around 8 percent till 15 percent. The government is warning the population with the rising number and is also informing them. Special "diabetes nights" are organised to inform poor people, because for them it is risky to get diabetes. Most of the times, they cannot afford the medicines and diabetic products. Therefore, they should prevent that they get the disease. There are a lot of poor people who died because they could not afford the medicines.

Diabetes In The ASEAN Countries

Looking at every country in the ASEAN, Malaysia has by far the highest percentage of diabetic patients. At the moment it is almost 17 percent, and still rising. Also, there are a lot of undiagnosed people with diabetes. Especially poor people, who do not visit a doctor.

This is bad for the economy and the health of the country. The economy of Malaysia has a rising GDP of about 5% a year and is thriving to be a developed country. But, with this, the costs are higher than only money. People get diabetes and get sick because of the rapid rise of fast food and bad Malaysian food.
